India Calls on Citizens to Flee Iran

(MENAFN) The Indian Embassy in Tehran issued an urgent evacuation advisory Monday, calling on all Indian citizens across Iran — including students, business travelers, pilgrims, and tourists — to depart the country immediately using any available means of transport as the security situation continues to deteriorate.

The embassy's directive cited the rapidly evolving conditions on the ground, instructing nationals to utilize all viable departure options, including commercial flights, without delay. The advisory extended to the estimated 10,000 Indians currently residing in Iran, a population that includes a significant number of students alongside thousands of Muslim pilgrims who travel to the country annually from various regions across India.

Monday's warning marks the second such evacuation call within weeks. Last month, New Delhi issued a similar directive after Iran was gripped by deadly protests that sent shockwaves through the country and prompted concerns over the safety of foreign nationals.

Indian authorities have not specified a formal deadline for departure, but the language of the advisory signals mounting urgency. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and diplomatic sources have yet to publicly quantify the scale of risk faced by Indian nationals still in the country.

The back-to-back advisories reflect deepening concern in New Delhi over the safety of its citizens as Iran navigates one of its most volatile periods in recent memory.
