Provided by AGPThe Chinese Foreign Ministry confirmed the upcoming trip, stating:
"At the invitation of Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC (Communist Party of China) Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will pay an official visit to China from April 14 to 15."
According to reports, the diplomatic visit comes against a backdrop of heightened geopolitical strain after Washington and Tehran failed to reach an agreement during extended discussions held in Islamabad over Saturday and Sunday.
Tensions further escalated after US President Donald Trump reportedly announced a naval blockade targeting the Strait of Hormuz, scheduled to take effect from 1400 GMT on Monday.
The move added further uncertainty to an already fragile regional security situation.
The Strait of Hormuz—one of the world’s most strategically important maritime chokepoints—has become a focal point amid rising concerns over energy security and potential disruptions to global shipping routes.
